Game Review
Real Sociedad secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Elche in their La Liga clash on Saturday, 7 February 2026. The match, held at Real Sociedad's home ground, saw the hosts dominate proceedings, with Mikel Oyarzabal (GAP +3.0%) and Álvaro Odriozola (GAP +3.8%) playing pivotal roles in the victory. This result was largely expected given Real Sociedad's superior form and league position compared to Elche. The game began with Real Sociedad taking control early on. Luka Sučić (GAP -1.6%) opened the scoring in the 24th minute, setting the tone for the home side. Mikel Oyarzabal doubled the lead in the 37th minute, showcasing his clinical finishing ability. Despite a brief resurgence from Elche, with André Silva (GAP -0.3%) pulling one back in the 42nd minute, Real Sociedad maintained their composure. Orri Óskarsson sealed the victory with a late goal in the 89th minute, ensuring all three points stayed with the home team. Tactically, Real Sociedad's manager made no changes to the starting lineup from their previous match, indicating confidence in his squad's current form. In contrast, Elche's head coach opted for a more conservative approach, which ultimately fell short against Real Sociedad's attacking prowess. Key performances from Álvaro Odriozola and Álex Remiro (GAP +2.3%) were instrumental in Real Sociedad's success. Odriozola's defensive contributions and forward runs provided a significant advantage, while Remiro's presence in goal ensured Elche's limited opportunities were thwarted. This victory strengthens Real Sociedad's position in the upper echelons of the La Liga table, continuing their push for European qualification. Meanwhile, Elche will need to regroup and address their defensive vulnerabilities as they aim to climb away from the lower half of the standings.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
