About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In an engaging La Liga encounter, Osasuna and Villarreal played out a 2-2 draw on Saturday, 31 January 2026. The match was a balanced affair, with both teams showing resilience and tactical acumen. The result was not entirely unexpected, as both sides have been evenly matched in recent form. The game started with Villarreal taking an early lead through Gerard Moreno (GAP +3.5%) in the 17th minute, showcasing his clinical finishing ability. However, Osasuna quickly responded with Víctor Muñoz (GAP +1.6%) equalizing just three minutes later, setting the stage for a competitive contest. Osasuna took the lead just before halftime, with Ante Budimir (GAP +2.4%) finding the back of the net in the 45th minute. His goal highlighted Osasuna's ability to capitalize on set-piece opportunities. Villarreal, however, was not to be outdone, as Gerard Moreno struck again in the 70th minute to level the score, demonstrating his importance to the team with a brace. Tactically, both teams made several changes. Osasuna's manager opted for a fresh approach, bringing in Abel Bretones, Raúl García, Jorge Herrando, and Aimar Oroz as substitutes. Villarreal's head coach also made strategic adjustments, introducing Santi Comesaña, Tanitoluwa Oluwaseyi, and Tajon Buchanan to inject energy into the side. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) data highlighted several key performers. Luiz Júnior (GAP +5.0%) stood out for Villarreal, contributing significantly to their defensive efforts, while Pape Gueye (GAP +4.4%) was instrumental in midfield battles. This draw leaves both teams in a similar position in the league table, with Osasuna maintaining their mid-table status and Villarreal continuing their pursuit of a European spot. The result reflects the competitive nature of La Liga this season, where every point is crucial. Post-match reactions praised Gerard Moreno's performance, with fans and pundits alike acknowledging his pivotal role in securing a point for Villarreal. The match was a testament to the tactical depth and quality present in both squads, promising an exciting remainder of the season.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
