Game Review
In a tightly contested La Liga encounter, Villarreal edged past Levante with a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to a decisive goal by Georges Mikautadze (GAP +1.1%) in the 57th minute. This result was somewhat anticipated, given Villarreal's stronger position in the league standings and recent form compared to Levante. The match unfolded with both teams initially struggling to break down each other's defenses. Levante, playing at home, managed to hold Villarreal at bay for the first half, but it was Mikautadze who found the breakthrough shortly after the break. His goal was a testament to Villarreal's persistence and tactical discipline, which eventually wore down the Levante defense. Villarreal's lineup featured key contributions from players like Ayoze Pérez (GAP +2.9%) and Pape Gueye (GAP +4.9%), who were instrumental in maintaining control in the midfield and creating opportunities. Meanwhile, Levante's Mathew Ryan (GAP -2.1%) had a challenging day in goal, as he was unable to prevent the crucial strike from Mikautadze. Both teams opted not to make any substitutions, indicating a strong belief in their starting lineups. This decision by both managers highlighted their confidence in the initial tactical setups, although it was Villarreal's strategy that ultimately paid off. The victory for Villarreal solidifies their position in the upper half of the La Liga table, providing them with a boost in momentum as they aim to secure a European competition spot. For Levante, the defeat is a setback, leaving them to reassess their strategies as they continue to battle in the mid-table. Post-match reactions highlighted Villarreal's resilience and tactical acumen, with fans and analysts praising their ability to secure a win in a match that could have easily ended in a stalemate. The result underscores Villarreal's potential to challenge for higher honors this season, while Levante will need to regroup and find ways to convert their home advantage into points.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
