Game Review
In a tightly contested Bundesliga match, VfL Wolfsburg edged out St. Pauli with a 2-1 victory, thanks to a late winner from Dzenan Pejcinovic. The result was largely expected, given Wolfsburg's stronger position in the league and home advantage. However, St. Pauli put up a resilient fight, making the hosts work hard for their three points. The game began with Wolfsburg asserting control, and it was Christian Eriksen (GAP -2.0%) who broke the deadlock in the 25th minute, showcasing his trademark precision with a well-placed shot. St. Pauli responded before halftime, with Eric Smith (GAP -2.0%) leveling the score in the 40th minute, capitalizing on a lapse in the Wolfsburg defense. As the second half progressed, both teams had opportunities, but it was Wolfsburg who found the decisive moment. In the 88th minute, Pejcinovic struck to secure the win, a testament to Wolfsburg's persistence and tactical adjustments. Tactically, Wolfsburg's manager made several changes, bringing in Mattias Svanberg, Adam Daghim, Mohammed Amoura, Kilian Fischer, and Kevin Paredes from the bench. These substitutions injected fresh energy into the team, which proved crucial in the latter stages of the match. St. Pauli's head coach also made tactical adjustments, introducing Abdoulie Ceesay, Martijn Kaars, and Louis Oppie, but they were unable to alter the course of the game significantly. Konstantinos Koulierakis (GAP +2.1%) stood out defensively for Wolfsburg, providing stability at the back, while Maximilian Arnold (GAP +1.6%) was instrumental in midfield, dictating the tempo and contributing to Wolfsburg's attacking play. This victory consolidates Wolfsburg's position in the upper half of the Bundesliga table, boosting their momentum as they aim for European qualification. St. Pauli, on the other hand, will need to regroup and focus on their upcoming fixtures to climb out of the lower reaches of the table.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
