About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In an engaging Premier League encounter at Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal played out a thrilling 2-2 draw. The result was somewhat unexpected given Arsenal's recent form, having entered the match with a strong run of victories, while Wolves were looking to bounce back from a series of inconsistent performances. The match began with Arsenal taking an early lead through Bukayo Saka (GAP +5.5%), who found the net in the 5th minute, setting the tone for a competitive clash. Arsenal doubled their advantage in the 56th minute when Piero Hincapié (GAP +6.1%) scored, seemingly putting the visitors in control. However, Wolverhampton Wanderers responded with resilience. Hugo Bueno (GAP -1.4%) pulled one back for the hosts in the 61st minute, reigniting their hopes. The game reached its climax in the 90th minute when substitute Riccardo Calafiori scored a dramatic equalizer, ensuring the points were shared. Tactically, both teams made three changes to their starting lineups compared to their previous fixtures. Wolverhampton Wanderers' manager opted to bring in Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, André, and Jackson Tchatchoua, while Tolu Arokodare, Rodrigo Gomes, and João Gomes were left out. Arsenal's head coach introduced Gabriel Martinelli (GAP +1.0%), Bukayo Saka, and William Saliba (GAP +6.8%) into the starting eleven, with Leandro Trossard, Eberechi Eze, and Cristhian Mosquera making way. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) highlighted some standout performances, particularly from Arsenal's defensive duo Gabriel Magalhães (GAP +7.0%) and William Saliba, who were instrumental in maintaining their team's structure despite the late equalizer. Post-match reactions focused on the resilience shown by Wolverhampton Wanderers, who managed to claw back from a two-goal deficit. The result leaves Arsenal slightly frustrated as they missed the opportunity to close the gap on the league leaders, while Wolves will take confidence from their spirited comeback. This draw keeps Arsenal in the hunt for a top-four finish, although they will need to tighten their defense to secure crucial points in the coming weeks. Wolverhampton Wanderers, meanwhile, will hope to build on this performance as they aim to climb the league table.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
