Game Review
Brighton and Hove Albion secured a surprising 2-1 victory over Liverpool in their Premier League clash at the American Express Stadium. The result was unexpected given Liverpool's stature and recent form, but Brighton's resilience and tactical execution proved decisive. The match began with Brighton taking an early lead through Danny Welbeck (GAP +3.2%), who found the net in the 14th minute. Liverpool responded in the 30th minute with a goal from Milos Kerkez, leveling the score and setting the stage for a competitive second half. However, it was Welbeck again who made the difference, scoring his second goal in the 56th minute to secure all three points for the home side. Liverpool's lineup saw four changes from their previous outing, with Ibrahima Konate (GAP +4.5%), Giorgi Mamardashvili, Hugo Ekitiké, and Milos Kerkez coming in, while Andrew Robertson, Joe Gomez, Alisson Becker, and Rio Ngumoha were left out. The reasons for these changes were not specified in the post-match reports, but they could have been influenced by injuries or tactical adjustments. Brighton, on the other hand, fielded an unchanged lineup, demonstrating confidence in their squad's ability to compete against top-tier opposition. The standout performance from Welbeck, coupled with solid contributions from James Milner (GAP +3.5%) and Lewis Dunk (GAP +0.6%), highlighted Brighton's effective team play. Liverpool's head coach will be concerned with the team's inability to capitalize on their possession and the defensive lapses that allowed Welbeck to score twice. Despite a strong showing from Ryan Gravenberch (GAP +4.3%) and Dominik Szoboszlai (GAP +3.9%), Liverpool struggled to break down a well-organized Brighton defense. This victory propels Brighton further up the Premier League table, providing a significant boost to their confidence as they aim to finish the season strongly. For Liverpool, the defeat is a setback in their pursuit of a top-four finish, and they will need to regroup quickly to maintain their position in the league standings.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
