Game Review
Liverpool secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in their Premier League clash, with Virgil van Dijk (GAP +3.4%) scoring the decisive goal. This result was largely expected given Liverpool's superior form and squad depth, although Sunderland put up a resilient fight. The match was tightly contested, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances in the first half. Liverpool, however, gradually asserted their dominance, and their persistence paid off in the 61st minute when van Dijk headed home from a set-piece, showcasing his aerial prowess. Liverpool's lineup saw two changes from their previous outing, with Andrew Robertson (GAP +4.6%) and Wataru Endo (GAP +2.9%) coming in for Dominik Szoboszlai, who was suspended, and Milos Kerkez. Sunderland made one change, introducing Nilson Angulo in place of Chemsdine Talbi, who was unavailable due to international duty. Alisson Becker (GAP +5.1%) was instrumental in maintaining Liverpool's clean sheet, making several crucial saves to deny Sunderland. His performance, along with solid defensive displays from Ibrahima Konate (GAP +3.2%) and van Dijk, ensured Liverpool left with all three points. For Sunderland, Nordi Mukiele (GAP -0.3%) and Brian Brobbey (GAP -2.6%) struggled to make a significant impact, with the latter failing to capitalize on the few opportunities that came his way. This victory keeps Liverpool in the hunt for the top positions in the league, while Sunderland remains in the lower half of the table, needing to find form quickly to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle. The result reflects Liverpool's ability to grind out results even when not at their best, a hallmark of a team with championship aspirations.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
