About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a tightly contested Premier League encounter at the Brentford Community Stadium, Brentford and Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw. The result was a fair reflection of the game, with both teams having their moments of dominance. Arsenal, coming into the match with a strong recent form, were slightly favored, but Brentford's resilience ensured they shared the spoils. The game saw its first breakthrough in the 61st minute when Noni Madueke (GAP +1.6%) put Arsenal ahead with a well-taken goal. However, Brentford responded ten minutes later through Keane Lewis-Potter (GAP +1.9%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse to level the score. Both teams had opportunities to snatch a winner, but solid defensive performances, particularly from Gabriel Magalhães (GAP +6.9%) for Arsenal and Rico Henry (GAP +1.4%) for Brentford, kept the scoreline intact. Arsenal's lineup featured four changes from their previous match, with Eberechi Eze (GAP +2.8%), Viktor Gyökeres (GAP +2.9%), Piero Hincapié (GAP +2.6%), and Cristhian Mosquera (GAP +0.6%) coming in. These changes were part of a tactical rotation by the Arsenal head coach. Brentford made a single change, bringing in Yehor Yarmolyuk (GAP -2.0%) for Jordan Henderson, likely to inject fresh legs into the midfield. David Raya (GAP +5.2%) was instrumental for Arsenal, making several key saves to deny Brentford from taking the lead. On the other hand, Declan Rice (GAP +4.3%) controlled the midfield, showcasing his ability to break up play and distribute effectively. Post-match reactions highlighted the competitive nature of the game. Arsenal's head coach expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, acknowledging the difficulty of playing at Brentford's home ground. Meanwhile, Brentford's manager praised his team's fighting spirit and ability to come back from a goal down. This draw leaves Arsenal maintaining their position in the upper echelons of the Premier League table, while Brentford continues to hover around mid-table, showing consistency in their performances. Both teams will look to build on this result in their upcoming fixtures, with Arsenal aiming to consolidate their top-four ambitions and Brentford seeking to climb further up the table.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
