About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In an exhilarating Serie A encounter, Lazio and Udinese played out a thrilling 3-3 draw, a result that might have surprised some given Lazio's home advantage. The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams showing resilience and attacking prowess. The game kicked off with Udinese taking an early lead through Kingsley Ehizibue (GAP +0.5%) in the 18th minute, setting the tone for a competitive clash. Lazio responded in the second half with Luca Pellegrini (GAP +0.3%) leveling the score in the 50th minute. The match seemed to tilt in Lazio's favor when Pedro (GAP not listed) scored in the 80th minute, giving the home side a 2-1 lead. However, Udinese's Arthur Atta (GAP -1.8%) had other plans, scoring twice in the dying minutes of the match, including a dramatic equalizer in the 90th minute, after Lazio's Daniel Maldini (GAP not listed) had seemingly secured the win for Lazio just moments earlier. This late flurry of goals highlighted the attacking intent and never-say-die attitude of both sides. Tactically, Lazio's manager made three substitutions, bringing on Pedro, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Gustav Isaksen, which injected fresh energy into the team. Udinese's head coach also made strategic changes, introducing Adam Buksa and Lennon Miller, which paid dividends as they managed to claw back into the game. From a statistical standpoint, Patric (GAP +2.7%) and Toma Bašić (GAP +2.1%) were standout performers for Lazio, contributing significantly to their team's efforts. For Udinese, Jurgen Ekkelenkamp (GAP +1.4%) and Thomas Kristensen (GAP +1.9%) were instrumental in maintaining their team's competitive edge. This draw leaves Lazio in a precarious position as they aim to secure a European spot, while Udinese will be buoyed by their fighting spirit, looking to build momentum in the closing stages of the season. Both teams will need to address defensive lapses if they are to achieve their respective goals in the remaining fixtures.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
