About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

AC Milan edged out Torino 3-2 in a thrilling Serie A encounter on Saturday, 21 March 2026. The match, held at San Siro, saw AC Milan maintain their strong form, while Torino put up a spirited fight. This victory was crucial for Milan as they continue to push for a top-four finish. The game started with AC Milan taking the lead in the 36th minute through Strahinja Pavlović (GAP +4.6%), who capitalized on a set-piece opportunity. Torino responded just before halftime with a goal from Giovanni Simeone (GAP -0.5%), leveling the score at 1-1. The second half saw AC Milan regain control with two quick goals. Adrien Rabiot (GAP +4.7%) put Milan ahead in the 54th minute, followed by Youssouf Fofana (GAP +2.2%) scoring just a minute later, making it 3-1. Torino managed to pull one back in the 83rd minute through Nikola Vlašić (GAP -0.2%), but it was not enough to alter the outcome. Tactically, AC Milan's midfield, orchestrated by Luka Modric (GAP +4.1%), was pivotal in controlling the tempo of the game. Mike Maignan (GAP +4.0%) also played a crucial role in goal, making several key saves to deny Torino further opportunities. In terms of lineup changes, AC Milan's manager opted for a consistent starting eleven, while Torino made several substitutions, including the introduction of Che Adams and Sandro Kulenović, in an attempt to change the game's dynamics. Post-match, AC Milan's performance was praised for its resilience and tactical discipline, while Torino's head coach acknowledged the challenge of facing a well-organized Milan side. This result leaves AC Milan in a strong position as they aim for European qualification, while Torino will need to regroup and focus on their upcoming fixtures to climb the Serie A table.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
