About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a compelling Serie A clash, Como secured a 3-1 victory over Lecce, a result that might have surprised some given the pre-match expectations. Como, playing at home, demonstrated resilience and tactical acumen to overturn an early deficit and claim all three points. The match began with Lecce taking the lead in the 13th minute through Lassana Coulibaly (GAP +0.5%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse to put the visitors ahead. However, Como responded swiftly, with Tasos Douvikas (GAP +1.1%) equalizing in the 18th minute, showcasing his clinical finishing ability. Como continued to press and were rewarded in the 35th minute when Jesús Rodríguez (GAP +3.6%) found the back of the net, giving the home side a crucial lead before halftime. The momentum remained with Como as Marc-Oliver Kempf (GAP +3.4%) extended their advantage just before the break, scoring in the 44th minute to make it 3-1. In terms of tactical adjustments, Como's manager made five changes during the match, bringing in Diego Carlos, Nico Paz, Álvaro Morata, Sergi Roberto, and Assane Diao. These substitutions helped maintain the team's intensity and defensive solidity. Lecce's head coach also made five substitutions, introducing Riccardo Sottil, Nikola Štulić, Santiago Pierotti, Oumar Ngom, and Gaby Jean in an attempt to alter the game's dynamics, but it was to no avail. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) statistics highlighted several key performances. Jacobo Ramón (GAP +4.8%) and Lucas Da Cunha (GAP +4.0%) were instrumental in Como's midfield dominance, while Maximo Perrone (GAP +3.8%) provided crucial support in both defense and attack. This victory sees Como strengthen their position in the Serie A standings, building momentum as they look to climb further up the table. For Lecce, the defeat is a setback, and they will need to regroup quickly to avoid slipping further down the standings. Post-match reactions praised Como's tactical discipline and the impact of their substitutions, while Lecce will need to address their defensive vulnerabilities ahead of their next fixture.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
