Game Review
AC Milan secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Lecce in their Serie A clash on Sunday, 18 January 2026. The match, held at the iconic San Siro, saw Milan extend their unbeaten run, although the performance was far from dominant. The result was largely expected, given Milan's superior position in the league standings and their recent form. The game was tightly contested, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances. Despite the lack of goals recorded in the key events, AC Milan managed to find the net once, which proved to be the decisive moment in the match. The home side's defense, marshaled by Fikayo Tomori (GAP +5.4%), was instrumental in maintaining their clean sheet, while Mike Maignan (GAP +3.5%) in goal ensured Lecce's efforts were thwarted. Christian Pulisic (GAP +4.6%) was a standout performer for Milan, providing creativity and flair in the attacking third. His contributions were crucial in breaking down a resilient Lecce defense. On the other hand, Lecce's goalkeeper, Wladimiro Falcone (GAP -1.3%), had a challenging afternoon, as he faced a barrage of attempts from the Milan attack. Both teams fielded unchanged lineups from their previous matches, indicating a level of consistency in selection. However, neither manager opted to use their substitutes, which suggests satisfaction with the performances on the pitch or a lack of depth on the bench. This victory solidifies AC Milan's position in the upper echelons of the Serie A table, as they continue to chase the top spots. For Lecce, the defeat leaves them hovering around the mid-table, needing to find more consistency to climb higher. The result reflects Milan's ongoing momentum, while Lecce will need to regroup and strategize for their upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
