About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a tightly contested La Liga encounter, Espanyol and Levante played out a goalless draw on Monday, 27 April 2026. The result was not entirely unexpected given both teams' recent form and league positions, with neither side able to break the deadlock despite several opportunities. The match saw Espanyol field a starting lineup featuring Kike Garcia (GAP +0.7%) and Leandro Cabrera (GAP +0.0%), while Levante included Jeremy Toljan (GAP +0.5%) and Matías Moreno (GAP +1.6%). The game was characterized by a lack of clear-cut chances, with both defenses holding firm. Espanyol's Fernando Calero (GAP -1.3%) and Levante's Pablo Martínez (GAP -1.6%) were pivotal in maintaining the clean sheets for their respective sides. A significant moment in the match was the red card shown to Espanyol's Pol Lozano in the 88th minute, which left the home side with ten men for the closing stages. Despite this disadvantage, Levante could not capitalize on the numerical superiority. Tactically, both managers opted for a conservative approach, likely influenced by their recent league performances. Espanyol made five substitutions, bringing in Charles Pickel, Antoniu Roca, Pol Lozano, Tyrhys Dolan, and Roberto Fernández, while Levante introduced Carlos Álvarez, Tai Abed Kassus, Etta Eyong, and Kervin Arriaga. The changes, however, did not significantly alter the flow of the game. Post-match reactions highlighted the frustration of both sets of fans, as neither team could secure a vital win to boost their league standings. Espanyol's manager emphasized the need for more clinical finishing, while Levante's head coach praised his team's defensive solidity. This draw leaves Espanyol and Levante in a precarious position as they aim to secure their La Liga status for next season. Both teams will need to find more attacking impetus in their upcoming fixtures to climb the table and avoid the relegation battle.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
