About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Valencia secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Osasuna in their La Liga clash on Sunday, 1 March 2026. The match, held at Valencia's home ground, was decided by a solitary goal from Largie Ramazani (GAP -2.0%) in the 67th minute. This result was somewhat expected given Valencia's recent form and home advantage. The game was tightly contested, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances in the first half. Valencia's defense, led by Jose Luis Gaya (GAP +0.8%) and Unai Núñez (GAP +2.5%), managed to keep Osasuna's attack at bay. Osasuna, on the other hand, relied heavily on Ruben Garcia (GAP +2.8%) and Javi Galán (GAP +4.0%) to push forward, but they couldn't break through Valencia's organized backline. The decisive moment came in the second half when Ramazani found the back of the net, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Osasuna. Despite Osasuna's efforts to equalize, including bringing on fresh legs like Moi Gómez and Raúl García, they couldn't find a way past Stole Dimitrievski (GAP +0.7%) in Valencia's goal. Valencia's manager made several changes during the match, introducing Jesús Vázquez, Arnaut Danjuma, César Tárrega Requeni, Hugo Duro, and Diego López from the bench. These substitutions helped maintain their lead and secure the three points. For Osasuna, the head coach also made tactical adjustments, bringing in players like Asier Osambela and Kike Barja to add more attacking options. However, these changes were insufficient to alter the outcome. This victory sees Valencia continue their positive run, solidifying their position in the upper half of the La Liga table. Osasuna, meanwhile, will need to regroup and address their attacking inefficiencies as they look to climb the standings in the coming weeks.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
