About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a thrilling La Liga encounter, Real Betis and Sevilla played out a 2-2 draw, a result that reflected the evenly matched nature of the contest. The game, held on Sunday, 1 March 2026, saw both teams share the spoils in a match that had significant implications for their respective league campaigns. Real Betis started the match on the front foot, with Antony (GAP +2.8%) opening the scoring in the 16th minute. The home side doubled their advantage in the 37th minute through Álvaro Fidalgo, putting them in a commanding position at halftime. However, Sevilla, known for their resilience, fought back in the second half. Alexis Sánchez (GAP -2.6%) pulled one back in the 62nd minute, setting the stage for a tense finish. The equalizer came in the 85th minute from substitute Isaac Romero, who made an immediate impact off the bench. Tactically, both teams made several changes to their lineups. Real Betis introduced Cédric Bakambu and Sergi Altimira during the match, while Sevilla's head coach opted for a more aggressive approach by bringing on Isaac Romero, Adnan Januzaj, Batista Mendy, Oso, and Chidera Ejuke. These substitutions were pivotal, especially for Sevilla, as Romero's introduction proved crucial in securing a point. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) statistics highlighted some standout performances. Cucho Hernández (GAP +3.1%) was particularly influential for Real Betis, while César Azpilicueta (GAP +3.0%) provided stability at the back for Sevilla. This result leaves both teams reflecting on missed opportunities. Real Betis, who were looking to capitalize on their home advantage, will be disappointed not to have secured all three points, especially after leading by two goals. Meanwhile, Sevilla will take heart from their comeback, which demonstrates their fighting spirit and ability to recover from difficult situations. In terms of league standings, the draw means both teams remain closely positioned in the mid-table, with neither side making significant strides towards European qualification spots. As the season progresses, both teams will need to find more consistency if they are to achieve their respective goals.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
