About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Barcelona delivered a commanding performance in their La Liga clash against Levante, securing a 3-0 victory at home. This result was largely anticipated given Barcelona's superior form and squad depth compared to Levante. The match saw Barcelona dominate possession and create numerous scoring opportunities, reflecting their status as favorites. The game began with an early breakthrough for Barcelona, as Marc Bernal found the net in the 4th minute, setting the tone for the rest of the match. Frenkie de Jong (GAP +3.1%) doubled the lead in the 32nd minute, capitalizing on Barcelona's sustained pressure. The final goal came in the 81st minute from substitute Fermín López, who sealed the victory with a well-taken strike. Barcelona's lineup featured several standout performances, notably from Eric García (GAP +8.0%) and Lamine Yamal (GAP +8.6%), who were instrumental in both defense and attack. Raphinha (GAP +7.8%) also played a crucial role, providing creativity and flair on the wings. The team made five substitutions, bringing in Ferran Torres, Fermín López, Roony Bardghji, Ronald Araújo, and Pedri, which added fresh energy and maintained their dominance throughout the match. Levante struggled to cope with Barcelona's intensity and were unable to create significant chances. Their defensive setup was breached early, and they failed to recover, with players like Jeremy Toljan (GAP -0.9%) and Mathew Ryan (GAP -2.1%) unable to make a substantial impact. This victory solidifies Barcelona's position in the upper echelons of the La Liga table, boosting their confidence as they continue their pursuit of the title. For Levante, the defeat highlights the challenges they face in climbing the league standings, as they need to regroup and address their defensive vulnerabilities. Post-match reactions praised Barcelona's tactical execution and the effective integration of their substitutes, which kept the momentum firmly in their favor. The result underscores Barcelona's title ambitions and the need for Levante to find consistency in their performances.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
