About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a thrilling La Liga encounter, Deportivo Alavés and Girona played out a 2-2 draw, with both teams showcasing resilience and attacking prowess. The match, held on Monday, 23 February 2026, saw a late equalizer from Lucas Boyé (GAP -0.1%) that salvaged a point for the home side. The game began with Alavés taking an early lead through Lucas Boyé, who found the net in the 5th minute. This early goal set the tone for a competitive first half. However, Girona responded in the 31st minute with Vladyslav Vanat (GAP -1.1%) leveling the score, ensuring the teams went into halftime on equal terms. The second half saw Girona take the lead in the 73rd minute, courtesy of Viktor Tsygankov (GAP -1.0%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse by Alavés. As the match seemed to be slipping away from the hosts, Lucas Boyé emerged as the hero once again, scoring in the 89th minute to secure a draw. Tactically, both teams made several changes, with Deportivo Alavés introducing Ander Guevara and Denis Suárez from the bench, while Girona made a total of five substitutions, including the introduction of Fran Beltrán and Christian Stuani. These changes highlighted the managers' attempts to influence the game, particularly in the latter stages. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) data provided insights into individual performances. Arnau Martínez (GAP +0.7%) was a standout for Girona, contributing positively to their defensive efforts, while Víctor Parada (GAP -2.9%) struggled to make a significant impact for Alavés. This result leaves both teams reflecting on missed opportunities. For Alavés, the draw means they remain in a mid-table position, while Girona continues to hover around the same area, both teams looking to push higher in the standings. The match was a testament to the competitive nature of La Liga, where every point is fiercely contested. Post-match reactions highlighted the resilience of Alavés, with fans praising Lucas Boyé's crucial contributions. Meanwhile, Girona's supporters were left to ponder what could have been, had they managed to hold onto their lead. As the season progresses, both teams will aim to build on this performance, seeking consistency in their upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
