About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Barcelona secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Mallorca in their La Liga clash on Saturday, 7 February 2026. The match, held at Barcelona's home ground, saw the hosts dominate proceedings, with goals from Robert Lewandowski (GAP +6.4%), Lamine Yamal (GAP +9.5%), and Marc Bernal sealing the win. This result was largely expected given Barcelona's superior form and squad depth. The game began with Barcelona asserting their dominance early on. Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 29th minute, showcasing his clinical finishing ability. The Polish striker's performance was instrumental, as he consistently troubled the Mallorca defense. Lamine Yamal doubled the lead in the 61st minute, further highlighting his growing influence in the team. The young forward's GAP of +9.5% was the highest on the pitch, reflecting his significant impact. Marc Bernal, who came on as a substitute, added the third goal in the 83rd minute, capping off a comprehensive performance by the Catalan giants. Tactically, Barcelona's manager made effective use of his substitutes, with João Cancelo, Ferran Torres, and Roony Bardghji also coming off the bench to maintain the team's intensity. Mallorca, on the other hand, struggled to cope with Barcelona's attacking prowess, despite making five substitutions themselves, including the introduction of Javi Llabrés and Antonio Sánchez. From a lineup perspective, Barcelona's starting eleven featured no changes from their previous match, indicating a settled side. Mallorca's lineup also remained unchanged, suggesting confidence in their existing setup despite the challenging fixture. This victory solidifies Barcelona's position in the upper echelons of the La Liga table, as they continue to chase the top spot. For Mallorca, the defeat underscores the need to regroup and address their defensive vulnerabilities as they aim to climb the standings. Post-match reactions highlighted the impressive performances of Lewandowski and Yamal, with fans and pundits alike praising their contributions. Barcelona's manager expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, emphasizing the importance of maintaining momentum in the title race.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
