About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a commanding La Liga performance, Mallorca triumphed over Sevilla with a 4-1 victory on Monday, 2 February 2026. This result was somewhat unexpected given Sevilla's reputation, but Mallorca's clinical execution and tactical discipline shone through. The match began with Mallorca asserting their dominance early on. Vedat Muriqi (GAP +0.7%) opened the scoring in the 26th minute, setting the tone for the home side. Despite Sevilla's efforts to claw back into the game, it was Samú Costa (GAP -0.7%) who doubled Mallorca's lead in the 53rd minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse. Sevilla managed to pull one back just before halftime through Neal Maupay (GAP +1.4%), who found the net in the 45th minute. However, this was merely a consolation as Mallorca continued to press forward. Sergi Darder (GAP +1.3%) extended the lead further in the 74th minute, showcasing his ability to control the midfield and contribute offensively. The final blow came in the 90th minute when substitute Pablo Torre sealed the victory with a fourth goal for Mallorca. This comprehensive win was a testament to Mallorca's effective game plan and execution. Tactically, Mallorca's manager made no changes to the starting lineup from their previous match, indicating confidence in his squad's ability to deliver. In contrast, Sevilla's head coach opted for a few rotations, bringing in players like Isaac Romero and Djibril Sow, but these changes did not yield the desired impact. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) data highlights the standout performances, particularly from Mallorca's Sergi Darder and Vedat Muriqi, who were instrumental in their team's success. Odisseas Vlachodimos (GAP -1.7%) struggled in goal for Sevilla, reflecting the defensive challenges faced by the visitors. This victory propels Mallorca further up the La Liga table, boosting their confidence and momentum. For Sevilla, this defeat serves as a wake-up call to reassess their strategies and improve their defensive solidity in upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
