About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a tightly contested Serie A encounter, Roma edged past Lecce with a narrow 1-0 victory at home. The match, part of Gameweek 30, saw Roma secure three crucial points thanks to a solitary goal from substitute Robinio Vaz in the 57th minute. This result was largely expected as Roma, traditionally a stronger side, faced a Lecce team struggling in the lower half of the table. The game was characterized by a disciplined defensive display from both sides, with Roma's Gianluca Mancini (GAP +5.5%) and Mile Svilar (GAP +5.3%) playing pivotal roles in maintaining a clean sheet. Roma's defensive solidity was complemented by the attacking efforts of Donyell Malen (GAP +4.8%), who was instrumental in creating opportunities throughout the match. Lecce, despite their best efforts, found it challenging to break down Roma's defense. Wladimiro Falcone (GAP -0.9%) in goal for Lecce made several key saves to keep his team in the game, but ultimately, the lack of cutting edge in attack proved costly. Tactically, Roma's manager made five changes during the match, bringing on Robinio Vaz, who made an immediate impact by scoring the decisive goal. Lecce's head coach also made five substitutions, attempting to inject fresh energy into the team, but the changes failed to alter the outcome. This victory sees Roma consolidate their position in the upper echelons of the Serie A standings, maintaining pressure on the teams above them. For Lecce, the defeat means they remain perilously close to the relegation zone, needing to find form quickly to avoid the drop. Post-match reactions highlighted the importance of the win for Roma, with players and fans alike expressing satisfaction with the team's performance. The focus now shifts to the upcoming fixtures, where both teams will look to build on their respective performances.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
