Game Review
In a tightly contested Serie A encounter, Sassuolo edged past Cremonese with a narrow 1-0 victory on Sunday, 25 January 2026. The match was decided early on, with Alieu Fadera (GAP +0.3%) scoring the only goal in the 3rd minute. This result was somewhat expected given Sassuolo's home advantage and their slightly better form coming into the game. The early goal by Fadera set the tone for the match, as Sassuolo managed to hold onto their lead despite Cremonese's attempts to equalize. The home side's defense, marshaled by Nemanja Matic (GAP +1.4%), was resolute, effectively neutralizing the threat posed by Cremonese's Jamie Vardy (GAP +1.2%). Tactically, Sassuolo's manager made several substitutions to maintain their lead, bringing on Nicholas Pierini, Edoardo Iannoni, Andrea Pinamonti, Domenico Berardi, and Kristian Thorstvedt. These changes were strategic, aimed at refreshing the squad and maintaining defensive solidity. Cremonese also made five changes, introducing Mikayil Faye, Romano Floriani Mussolini, Francesco Folino, Dennis Johnsen, and Alessio Zerbin, but they were unable to break down Sassuolo's defense. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) data highlights the contributions of key players. Arijanet Murić (GAP +1.9%) was instrumental in goal for Sassuolo, ensuring a clean sheet with several crucial saves. On the other hand, Cremonese's Alberto Grassi (GAP -2.3%) struggled to make an impact, reflecting the team's overall difficulties in breaking through Sassuolo's defense. This victory sees Sassuolo gaining valuable points, helping them climb the Serie A table and build momentum. For Cremonese, the defeat is a setback as they continue to search for consistency in their performances. The result leaves both teams reflecting on their strategies as they prepare for the next round of fixtures.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
